It’s More Fun sa Pamayanan: Experiencing the Vigan City Fiesta
Vigan City, known as the Heritage City of the Philippines, truly comes alive during the Fiesta of the Conversion of St. Paul. As part of the “It’s More Fun sa Pamayanan” campaign, my visit to Vigan during this celebration allowed me to witness how culture, faith, and community come together in one vibrant event. The historic streets, especially Calle Crisologo, were filled with excitement, music, and colorful decorations that reflected the city’s rich Spanish-era heritage.

One of the highlights of the fiesta was the religious activities honoring St. Paul, the patron saint of Vigan. I was able to observe the solemn procession where devotees participated with deep faith and respect. The streets were lined with locals and tourists watching the beautifully adorned images pass by. This moment showed how strong the religious tradition of Vigan is and how it continues to unite people across generations.
Aside from the religious events, the fiesta also featured lively cultural presentations, street dancing, and local performances. I enjoyed seeing performers in traditional costumes showcasing Ilocano culture through music and dance. Food stalls offering local delicacies such as empanada, longganisa, and bibingka added to the festive atmosphere. These activities made the celebration more enjoyable and gave visitors a full cultural experience.
Overall, my experience during the Vigan City Fiesta was memorable and meaningful. It showed that Vigan is not only rich in history but also full of life, culture, and warmth. Through this celebration, Vigan proves that it is truly a “fun” destination where traditions are preserved and shared with pride. Visiting during the fiesta made me appreciate Filipino culture even more and encouraged me to promote local tourism by sharing my experience.
